Artificial intelligence and generative AI is one of nine service lines, sitting alongside cloud migration, systems implementation, experience design, organizational change and privacy and security, so this is AI inside a broad transformation practice rather than a specialist purchase. Scale is the other defining fact: the most recent headcount the firm published was over 12,500, in a May 2022 release, and the current boilerplate has dropped headcount entirely.

Our verdict

Slalom is a reasonable vendor for an organization that wants AI delivered as part of a wider change program, with the systems, design and organizational change work that usually surrounds it under one contract. It is not a boutique engagement and should not be compared to one: at the scale its own 2022 figures imply, the purchase runs through procurement and security review. What a buyer cannot do is verify much. The firm has published no headcount since 2022 and dropped it from the current boilerplate, its ownership structure is not stated, no pricing appears anywhere, no client is named in what we reviewed, and no independent review profile was confirmed.
