About Caylent

Caylent is an AWS-native engineering firm founded in 2015 in Irvine, California, covering agentic engineering and enablement, AI use case acceleration, AWS migrations, application modernization, cloud native development, managed operations and product strategy. It names 11 AWS Partner of the Year wins and 850+ AWS certifications across the team, and holds Anthropic Preferred Services Partner status.

It is explicit about what it is not. Its own process runs strategy into planning, prototyping and execution, and it contrasts itself directly with consulting that hands off, so a buyer wanting independent advice on whether to build at all is not the customer. Ownership is worth stating plainly: Caylent has been owned by Gryphon Investors since November 2022, and Gryphon also owns phData, which appears separately in this category, so these two firms are not independent alternatives to each other.

Our verdict

If your platform decision is already made and it is AWS, Caylent is one of the better verified engineering choices here, with partner awards and a certification count that are difficult to manufacture and Anthropic partner status on top. It is not an advisory purchase and it says so, running strategy straight into prototyping and execution. Two things belong in the comparison: no client is named and both its directory profiles are unclaimed with zero reviews, which is missing data rather than a poor record, and its owner also owns phData, so shortlisting both is not the independent comparison it appears to be. No rate or minimum is published either.

Pros

  • 11 AWS Partner of the Year wins and 850+ AWS certifications across the team, plus Anthropic Preferred Services Partner status
  • Names two engagement structures, time and materials and a capacity pod model, rather than leaving the commercial shape undefined
  • Explicit that it stays through execution rather than handing off after strategy

Cons

  • Owned by Gryphon Investors, which also owns phData in this same category, so the two are not independent alternatives
  • An engineering shop rather than an advisory, so a buyer wanting independent advice on whether to build at all is not the customer
  • Names no client, publishes no rate or minimum, and both directory profiles are unclaimed with zero reviews
